30 Days Of Night Trailer (2007)

30 days of nights is an action horror film about vampires attacking a village in the arctic circle where the sun doesn't rise for 30 days. By using a jump scare (conventional for an action horror film)it wakes the audience of the rest of the trailer and brings the audience to attention. looking at the mine-en-scene, the characters conventional to its genre, quick moving monster (the vampire) making it clear from the start what genre the film is to the audience. The cuts at the start of the trailer all fade to black, i feel this works well with the trailer as it adds suspense and connotes aspects of the unknown and fear. However when the collision cutting and montage takes place the fades stop adding suspense and quacking the tempo of the trailer to interest the audience. The inter-titles i feel work well containing enough information for the audience to understand the plot but not to much is given away. I also like the change in colour of the type, starting blue, then when the scenes of killing have been seen it changes to red, connoting fear and blood. However i feel that the music in the trailer doesn't fit the genre or the trailer well enough. The music doesn't fit the tempo of the trailer and i feel it is contrapuntal music. The shots consists of people being killed and under attack, when the music is slower than the shots, the atmosphere the music creates i feel isn't an iconic horror atmosphere.
